This Site (or part of) is dedicated to the 2007 George Mason Robotics team. This year team 1418 has accomplished so much. We have achieved unbelievable feats of glory. We were ranked eighth at Chesapeake finished third. We also won the Delphi Driving Tomorrow Technology Design Award.
Article was adapted from GMHS Lasso online.
The George Mason’s robot, “Tazeroni” came in 22nd out of 86 teams from around the world last Thursday through Saturday. The team won four out of seven preliminary matches. In each match, Mason was randomly paired with two other teams to form an alliance of three robots. Mason was consistently the top scorer for the alliance, losing matches only when its robot suffered major mechanical or electrical malfunctions. “This was an important experience for our school in that we proved our design was capable of competing with the best,” said sponsor Mr. John Ballou.
Our robot came in 8th (really 7th)* place at the Chesapeake Regional and 22nd at Championships in the Curie division. Even with a broken arm or disconnected wires, "Tazeroni" kept strong scoring 32+ points in most of its matches.
Fun Fact: Lowest scoring match, 1 tube, highest scoring match 6 tubes. Our average number of tubes scored when everything worked 5-6(probably 4-5 because of defenders), and when stuff doesn't work 5 or less. And if you have to ask yes we did score 5 tubes in multiple matches when things didn’t work.
*(7th place was said above because some how a broken robot got lucky and ended up in the 4th seat.)
Also note there has been an update, all or (we belive all) of the pictures of George Mason Robtics team from 2007 has been posted on this site, and just recently added (6/8/07) a video showing our team and robot in action throughout the entire robotic season. |
